Abstract

The P3G2 seminar will cover the theoretical concepts of computing cluster and grid as the infrastructure for parallel computing and remote sharing of computing resources. Besides the overview of the infrastructure models for executing parallel programs, some particular parallel programming techniques will be shown. Every theoretical block will be followed by a laboratory session where the atendees will have the oportunity to compile and execute the parallel code on the actual cluster or grid system.

This year, the P3G2 seminar will be held as EGEE training event, and will cover some basic introduction notes about the european EGEE grid project. While in the laboratory session, the attendees will have the opportunity to run the example programs on an actual grid infrastructure using EGEE software.

The seminar is targeted at scientists and engineers who use the computer as the infrastructure for scientific computing, but an yone willing to improve her knowledge in the field of distributed computing is also welcome.

Results
Through the seminar, the atendees will gain knowlegdge, skills and practical expirience in using cluster and grid technologies, and will also gain new views and perspectives in the system and application part of the distributed computing concept. Upon completion of the seminar, the atendees will recieve the official certificate of attendance.
Timetable

The actual place where the seminar will be held is about to be confirmed.

The seminar will last two days, with two 3-hour sessions per day. The schedule and agenda are given in the table below.
