General Information
Official language
The official
language of the Summer School is English.
Passports and
visas
All
visitors travelling to the Croatia must be in
a possession of a valid passport.
All
citizens of the countries for which entry visas are required must
have a valid visa
prior to the entry into the Republic of Croatia by applying to the related
Embassy or Consular Office of the Republic of Croatia.
The list of the countries whose citizens require entry visas for
the Republic of Croatia as well as information on passport regulations and other
legal issues are to be found on the web-site of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs

The booking of transportation is solely on the participants.

By Train
No train service. Nearest
train stations are in Split and Ploce. |

By Plain
The International Airport is situated 18 km (11 miles) southeast of
Dubrovnik.
From the airport
to the town a bus-shuttle,
which takes about 20 minutes,
operates for
regular flights. A taxi service is available and recommended.
A taxi fare from Dubrovnik airport to Hotels "Lero" or "R" is
ca. 27 EUR / 37 USD / 200 HRK (Kuna). Please have
Kuna ready. |

By Bus
Dubrovnik is
connected with all major Croatian cities (Zagreb –
11 hrs,
Rijeka – 12 hrs,
Split - 4.5 hrs)
by many daily intercity-bus lines and also with some European cities
(Ljubljana – 15 hrs, Sarajevo – 6 hrs, Frankfurt
- 28
hrs, Zürich – 23 hrs). |

By Ferry
Ferry Terminal
is located
2 km west of the Old Town.
Regular
car-carrying ferries run between Dubrovnik and Rijeka and between
Dubrovnik and Bari (IT). The ferry schedule and booking information of

alternative is
to take a ferry between Split and Ancona (IT)
in which case have a contact at:

By Car
Distances to
Dubrovnik are: from Zagreb – 580 km, Rijeka – 560 km, Split
– 250 km, Ljubljana - 750 km, Graz - 780 km, Budapest - 800 km.
Be prepared for limited parking spaces especially in the summer months.

Climate
The
climate is typical
Mediterranean
with
average summer temperatures of 25°C
and sea temperatures
from
18-21°C.
Currency and Credit Cards
The currency in Croatia is Croatian Kuna (HRK).
One Euro is approximately equivalent to
7.4 HRK (1 USD = 5.4 HRK). Money can be easily exchanged at banks and exchange offices, travel
agencies, post offices, hotels and airports.
Credit cards
are generally accepted in hotels and restaurants, but be sure to ask before you
order. You can also use ATMs to get cash. Many banks have ATMs in front of their
buildings. An ATM is also located at Hotel "Lero".
Dining
Dubrovnik offers more than 60 restaurants, serving local and
international dishes. Most major credit cards are accepted.
Seafood is a top item
as are grilled lamb and beef. Pasta, fresh vegetables, olives, herbs and sheep’s
cheese are part of the cuisine. Try high quality wines from the nearby island of Korcula
and
peninsula of Peljesac,
such as Posip, Grk, Marastina, Dingac or Postup.
