Phases of the project according to workpackages
|
WP 1 - Project organization
Setting-up of a detailed concept and action plan for the co-operation between participants from EU countries and Croatia and Bosnia-Herzegovina. A seminar will be organized by hydrogeologists in order to define joint criteria of field collection of samples and informatic data procession. This work package includes also organization of field trips, sampling and logistic support of local authorities.
WP 2 - Hydrogeological recognition
Hydrogeological recognition is fieldwork performed on the topographic basis m 1:25000. All these objects will be located on the map, and all available data must be registered in specific sheet.
WP 3 - Sampling and laboratory analyses
The sampling program will be established after hydrogeological recognition of the area (WP2) with participation of Croatian and Bosnian hydrogeologists. Logistic support in collection of samples of subcontracted partners from the area is indispensable.
Following analyses will be performed (partner
codes are denoted by bold letters):
a) Isotopic analyses: 2H, 13C, 18O in water and sediments on a periodical basis (P2) and 3H, 14C (P3)
b) Inorganic pollutants, microlements (P1,
P2)
c) Organic pollutants, DOC and nutrients (P1,
P3), CFC/SF6 analyses (P2)
d) Physico-chemical analyses for tufa precipitation (P3)
WP 4 - Geographic information system (GIS)
The hydrogeological map M 1:100 000 supported with relational bases of hydrogeological data IVE, BBB, SPJ, OPO and ZAG will be made. Data will be collected on field and displayed digitally on topographic bases M 1:25000. Data collected during the field work and analyses (WP3) should be processed in the digital form.
Description of sheets for data collecting:
IVE (spring,
estavel)
BBB
(drilled well, bore hole)
SPJ (cave, pit )
OPO (observation sites)
ZAG (pollutants)
WP 5 - Hydrogeological model
Application of the multivariate statistical analyses would be used for evaluation of geochemical affinity between particular spring water components and recognition of anomalies of anthropogenic contribution on groundwater composition. Performed tests by using the geochemical modeling (mass balance and reaction-path) will serve for quantification of water contribution from different sources (recharge areas) and dynamics of water exchange within the aquifers.
WP 6 - Case study 1: Anthropogenic influence to Plitvice Lakes
Measurement of water and sediment samples periodically at each season (4 times yearly).
Analyses of water: temperature, pH, HCO3, Ca, Mg2+, O2, nutrients, dissolved organic carbon, 13C, organic pollutants, CFC/SF6, bacteriological analyses.
Analyses of sediments: 210Pb, 214Pb, 137Cs, 34S, 14N, hydrocarbons, trace elements
WP 7 - Case study 2: Industrial influence to water quality
Elaboration of the map of vulnerability of Una River system in Bihac region as the basis for location of industrial facilities and waste depositories of Bihac area. This invesdtigations will also enable the valorization of natural phenomenton of Una river connected with development of tourism.
WP 8 - Case study 3: Water supply capacities
Isotopic, physical, chemical and bacteriological measurements of springs important for water supplying of Bihac and those important for water supplying of Kulen Vakuf (Bosnia-Herzegovina) and Lapac region in Croatia should be performed. Comparison with prewar status will be made.
WP 9 - Dissemination activities
The efficient dissemination of the results of this project will be realized through publications in periodicals, presentations on congresses and seminars and creation of a web page, depending on the decision of the partners in the project.
During the kick-off meeting a seminar will be organized for education of the representatives of local administration, enterprises and non-profit non-governmental organizations which will take part in field sampling in order to make joint criteria of sampling and informatic elaboration of data.
The end-users will be informed periodically about the progress in research in form of special reports (bulletin) written in Croatian/Bosnian language.
Finally, within the last phase of the project a workshop will be organized with participation of all partners, sub-contractors, representatives of local administration, interested enterprises and non-governmental organizations.
WP 10 - Rehabilitation measures
Evaluation of the results obtained within workpackages WP2—WP8 including the identification of main problems in the area. Possible solutions will be proposed and discussed with local authorities on final workshop.
WP 11 - Co-ordination
Setting-up of a detailed concept and action plan for cooperation between partners from EU and CEEC. Priority tasks will be identified and distributed among the consortium partners. This task will include the assessment of field work, sampling, analytical methods that should be included in order to fulfill WP4 to WP8 and the assessment of local socio-economic situation. The general administration of the consortium will be carried out by the project co-ordinator who will ensure a continuous control of Project progress. The assistant co-ordinator will help co-ordinator in contacts with partners from CEEC countries taking part in the Project.
