The workshop for targeted user-groups from Croatia and the region was organized between 5th and 6th November 2009 at the Rudjer Boskovic Institute

During the first day in the morning session the members of the Laboratory for Ion Beam Interactions presented the results of the work done under this project. Through series of lectures, capabilities for utilization of the Tandem Accelerator Facility for modifications and developments of new and advanced materials, including analysis of materials by ion beam analytical methods (PIXE, RBS, ERDA, NRA, IBIC, ...) was presented. Presentation about applications at the nuclear microprobe were given. In addition to descriptions of the basic principles of various methods, numerous application examples were given (like analysis of semiconductor materials, analysis of cultural heritage objects, structural changes of materials irradiated by ion beams, applications in environmental sciences and in biomedicine, ...). The same das afternoon the visit to the Laboratory for Ion Beam Interactions and to the Tandem Accelerator Facility was organized. During the second day of the workshop demonstration activities were performed on the use of ion beam analytical methods for the analysis of several real samples submitted by participants. The workshop was attended by 58 participants from the RBI, Universisies from Zagreb, Rijeka and Dubrovnik, Croatian Restoration Institute, Academy of Fine Arts, State Archive, Archaeological Museum of Zagreb, National and University Library, Institute for Physics from Zagreb, Josef Stefan Institute from Ljubljana (Slovenia), Vinca Institute from Belgrade (Serbia), University of Sarajevo (BIH), TAEK (Turkey) and State University of St. Petersburg (Rusia).

The project achievements were also disiminated to other scientists, various stakeholders and general public through scientific publications, organization and participation at various workshops, conferences, round-tables, RBI Open days and contacts with media (TV, newspapers).
