6.0 MV EN Tandem Van de Graaff accelerator

6 MV High Voltage Engineering EN Tandem is in operations since 1987. Recent upgrades performed were establishment of accelerator computer control in 2004 and installation of new inclined field accelerating tubes in 2006. Different ion beams are accelerated from either of two negative ion sources by high voltages between 0.5 and 6.0 MV. Accelerator was moved to Zagreb after two decades of operation at the Rice University, Houston, Texas.

Accelerator is equipped with two ion sources:

- Sputtering ion source is of in-house construction for use with different ions and most frequently for H, Li, C, O, Cl and I beams.
- Alphatross ion source is RF source with rubidium charge exchange channel. It is used for hydrogen and helium ion beams
