introduction

Laboratory for high energy physics

The Rudjer Boskovic high energy physics group is actively involved in several CERN experiments, and recently also in astroparticle physics. We have numerous ongoing and planned projects and are looking for students and seniors for cutting-edge physics and computing analysis. Do not hesitate to contact us if you are interested in working with or for us.

NA61 SPS experiment at CERN:
  • The aim of the NA61 experiment at CERN is to study hadron production in collisions of protons and nuclei by the large acceptance hadron detector. In particular, the goal is the creation of laboratory conditions for a Quark-Gluon PLasma, as well as extracting the properties of the crossover region from QGP to normal phase of matter

IRB activities:
  • p-p and p-A analysis
  • hyperon analysis
  • residual corrections
  • slow control
Talks:
Pierre Auger Observatory in Argentina:
  • Pierre Auger studies ultra-high energy cosmic rays, the most energetic and rarest of particles in the universe.

IRB activities:
  • Determination of accuracy of the direction of cosmic showers
Talks:
CMS experiment at the LHC:
  • The main goal of CMS is the search for the Higgs particle, as well as for supersymmetric particles

IRB activities:
  • DAQ: High Level Trigger Configuration, Control & Monitoring
  • Gauge Boson Coupling analysis
Talks:
ALICE: LHC experiment (2009 start):
  • p-p, p-A and Pb-Pb physics at Tev/nucleon
  • Detailed investigation of Quark-Gluon PLasma

IRB activities:
