Research interests in the Radiation Chemistry and Dosimetry Laboratory Kinetics and mechanisms of short – lived radiation induced reactive species: electrons, ions, free radicals and excited molecules. Study of biologically important processes with the participation of short - lived chemically reactive species by producing reactive species by radiation chemical methods under controlled conditions. Development of fast techniques suitable for time – resolved studies of reactive species. Development of measurement methods for the quantitation of the amount of energy deposited by ionizing radiation in irradiated matter (dosimetry). Characterization of both dosimetry systems and radiation fields. Dosimetry of electromagnetic and particulate radiations, both neutral (neutrons) and charged particles (electrons and heavy ions). Establishment of the Secondary Standard Dosimetry Laboratory entrusted with the development and maintenance of the national standard of absorbed dose. Evaluation of dosimetry techniques suitable for wide ranging applications spanning many orders of magnitude, from environmental dosimetry to radiation processing. Dosimetric monitoring of personnel professionally exposed to ionizing radiations. Synthesis, characterization and modification of polymers by ionizing radiation. Research of potential applications of irradiation for sterilization, pasteurization, disinfection and decontamination of medical, pharmaceutical, cosmetic, toiletry, food and other products. Irradiation services for research and commercial purposes. | |
