Considering the importance of molecular biology for the development of biology, medicine, agronomy and biotechnology, resulting in its positioning at the top of the overall science, the Department will motivate competitive research at the international level through:

(i ) research projects and

(ii ) education of highly qualified scientists.

In parallel, the most perspective scientists in Croatia working in different areas of biological research will be gathered in the Department. This will contribute to the further development of molecular biology and enable the Department to preserve the leading role in this research area in Croatia . The Department will actively participate in the education at the undergratuate and postgraduate level, as well as in education of young researchers through laboratory work.
