Short description of the activity

Laboratory of Molecular Neuropharmacology is engaged in studies of the

mechanism of action of neuropsychoactive drugs, primarily those acting

via GABAergic and serotonergic system. Special attention is being directed

to the effects of long- term drug treatment, as well as to the effects of drugs

in stress. The significance of platelet serotonin levels and genetic markers

for ethiopathogenesis and therapy of psychiatric disorders is being evaluated.

The studies include: molecular level (recombinant receptors), studies on brain

membranes (native receptors), behavioural, biochemical and genetic studies.
