Laboratory of Molecular Neuropharmacology is engaged in studies of themechanism of action of neuropsychoactive drugs, primarily those actingvia GABAergic and serotonergic system. Special attention is being directedto the effects of long- term drug treatment, as well as to the effects of drugsin stress. The significance of platelet serotonin levels and genetic markersfor ethiopathogenesis and therapy of psychiatric disorders is being evaluated. The studies include: molecular level (recombinant receptors), studies on brainmembranes (native receptors), behavioural, biochemical and genetic studies.
Current projects
NEUROTRANSMITTERS IN STRESS AND REGULATION OF GABAA RECEPTORS IN VITRO(supported by grant from Ministry of Science and Technology Republic of Croatia)Project Head: Danka Peričić, MD, PhD
