Mission

The mission of the Laboratory of Molecular Virology and Bacteriology is to expand and strengthen knowledge and understanding of the nature of human cancer associated to infectious agents to improve and develop new strategies for the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of this type of cancer.

Basic research in molecular pathogenesis of human papillomavirus (HPV)

Epidemiological research of HPV

In vitro antiviral testing (on DNA and RNA viruses) of newly and natural compounds

Molecular analysis of viral and bacterial infections in humans, especially sexually transmitted: HPV, herpes virus (HSV 1, HSV 2, CMV, EBV, VZV), Chlamydia trachomatis, Ureaplasma urealyticum, Mycoplasma hominis and other

Core facility for DNA and RNA isolation from different samples using an automatic system EZ1 (Qiagen)

Croatian bank of DNA of cancer and precursors lesions of the anogenital tract, notably cervix
