ANTITUMOR SCREENING OF NEWLY SYNTHESIZED AND NATURAL COMPOUNDS

 

Testing of antitumor effect of newly synthesized and natural compounds is performed routinely in the Laboratory of Functional Genomics (. For that purpose, the compounds should be submitted to the laboratory head, Dr. Marijeta Kralj, diluted in water, or appropriate organic solvent (DMSO, DMF, etc.) in the concentration range of 10-1 or 10-2 mol/l. Antitumor activity is screened on the following cancer cell lines: breast, colon, larynx, pancreas and cervix, as well as on normal lung fibroblasts. Metabolic activity of the cells is measured by the MTT-test and the results are represented graphically as well as in the form of the GI50 (growth inhibition of 50%) value and LC50 (lethal concentration of 50%) value.
