Welcome to the Division of experimental physics (DEP) at the RBI. We are focused on research in experimental and theoretical nuclear and particle physics, astrophysics, and on quantum information. There are over 60 staff members, including more than 30 Ph.D.s.
We are engaged in numerous experiments and experimental complexes abroad and in Croatia, maintaining strong performance in both basic and applied physics research.
As of January 2012, we have seven of the nine European Commission FP7 projects at the RBI. The DEP consists of nine laboratories and is eager to increase its number of students and senior researchers.

Odredit će se profili 14C i 137Cs u recentnim jezerskim sedimentima s područja Plitvičkih jezera u Hrvatskoj. Pomoći ćemo kolegama u Novom Sadu da razviju metodu mjerenja 14C aktivnosti u okolišu tehnikom apsorpcije CO2 i provesti harmonizaciju metoda pripreme uzoraka i mjernih procedura, te međulaboratorijsku interkomparaciju.more »
The goal of the project is to find new knowledge based on experimental study of the time evolutions of radiation damages induced by energetic (MeV) ion beams. The focus is on studying:
- influence of electronic stopping and related nanostructuring of materials by ion track methodology using swift heavy ions;
- influence of nuclear stopping to radiation damage and amorphization in crystals, including materials of interest for future fusion reactors;
- charge transport properties in crystalline materials, focusing on novel semiconductor materials for radiation detection
