Language

The official language of the School is English.

Location

The School will take place in the Hotel Istra on Crveni otok (Red Island) near Rovinj, a beautiful old city at the western coast of the Istria peninsula, 50 km south of Trieste. The second part of September is late summer so the air and seawater temperatures should exceed 22°C.

Transportation

The most convenient way to reach Rovinj is by plane to Pula airport by Ryanair:

If you take the plane to Trieste airport, you have to go Trieste bus station wherefrom there are buses for Rovinj (and reverse):

Rovinj-Trieste: 05.40 (except Sunday); 7.40 (except Sunday)

There is also possibillity to take a hydrofoil (boat) connection 

Venice-Rovinj and vice versa: 7.45; 8.15; 17.00; 18.00; 18.30; 20.30

Rovinj-Venice: 6.30; 7.00; 8.00; 17.00

From Zagreb 

there are buses to Rovinj on Saturday at 6:15 (except Sunday), 7:30, 8:00 ,10:00, 11.30, 13:30, 14:30 (except Saturday)15:30, 16:00 (except Saturday), 17:00 (except weekend)17:30, 19:00 (except Saturday), 21:00, 22:30 (except Saturday) from Zagreb Main bus station.

It takes about 5 hours. The price is 159 kunas – 240 kunas (depending on the company).

From Rovinj to Zagreb, on Thursday, the buses leave Rovinj at: 4:00 (except weekend), 4:30 (except Sunday); 5:30, 7:00, 9:30, 10.00; 11:00; 12.00; 13:30, 14.15 (except Saturday), 15:15, 16.00; 16.50, 20:45 (except Saturday), 23.30 (except Saturday).

In addition, we will organizing the bus from Zagreb to Rovinj on September 19th at 11:00 from Main bus station, platform 502 – 505 (about 20 Euro – not included in the School fee). If interested, please register by sending an e-mail to the Organizer. The return bus to Zagreb will leave Rovinj on October 1st, after lunch.

Once in Rovinj, walk along the coast in the direction of ACY club Marina (5 min) and take the boat to Red Island (Crveni otok) hotel Istra, free of charge at 05:30, 06:40, 07:45, 09:00, 10:00, 11:00, 12:00, 13:40, 14:40, 16:00, 17:00, 18:00, 19:00, 20:20, 21:40, 22:40, 23:40, 00:40. 

From Crveni otok to Rovinj there is a boat at 06:15, 07:00, 08:30, 09:30, 10:30, 11:30, 12:40, 14:05, 15:00, 16:30, 17:30, 18:30, 19:45, 21:10, 22:05, 23:00, 24:00, 01:00.

IMPORTANT: THERE WILL BE POSSIBLE CHANGES IN TIMETABLES 2009!!

Accommodation

All participants will be accommodated in double rooms in the Hotel Istra on the Red Island.

Fellowships

(April 15^th)

The Organizers may provide financial support to several young qualified scientists to cover partly accommodation expenses and the registration fee. Candidates should state their relevant scientific qualifications by sending the application form (in the web site) accompanied by a CV and a letter(s) of recommendation until April 15^th.

Registration

(May 15^th)

Additional Registration Forms can be obtained on request. The number of participants will be limited to about 80. All participants are requested to check in at the Hotel Istria on September 19, 2009. Those who arrive earlier or stay longer should make a reservation for the extra days at their own cost. All applications should reach the Organizing Committee not later than May 15, 2009 either electronically or if you prefer you can send it by post. The applicants will be notified by June 1. 

Call for Posters

(June 1^st)

Interested participants are invited to submit abstracts describing their work. Abstracts should arrive no later than June 1, 2009. Authors will be informed about the provisional acceptance of the abstract by June 30. The presentation of the abstract as a poster will be confirmed, and included in the Book of Abstracts when one of authors registers for the conference. Contributors of outstanding abstracts will be chosen by the Scientific Committee to give a 10-minute oral presentation.

Poster Size

The poster boards will be 100 cm (width) and 100 cm (height). Materials for poster mounting will be provided.

Awards

A prize will be awarded for the best contribution in terms of innovative results and presentations.

Social Programme

There will be several informal social events: informal get-together party, walking tour of Rovinj, a  full-day excursion by boat, bus or on foot, concert, traditional dinner. Entertainment will be provided by willing performers from among the participants (your talent is awaited).

Passport, visas

All foreign participants must possess their valid passports to enter Croatia. Very few nationalities must have a visa. Participants from countries with visa requirement should apply to the Croatian consulate or diplomatic missions in their countries prior to their departure.
