Bioprospecting research is based on the underexplored biodiversity of the Adriatic Sea and is focused on the sustainable utilization of biological resources. The adaptation of marine organisms to various living conditions, especially extreme ones, promotes their variability and thus creates a significant genetic potential that can be the foundation for innovations. The project aims to conduct sustainable and systematic screening of primary and secondary metabolites in targeted micro- and macroorganisms of the Adriatic Sea with biotechnological potential for innovative development of commercially valuable natural products. The target groups include various industries (food, pharmaceutical, cosmetic, and chemical), environmental protection agencies, and the academic community.
