The laboratory for pure and applied supramolecular chemistry (LSC) contributed to supramolecular self-assemblies, particularity supramolecular gel chemistry by revealing highly potential application of oxalamide, fumaramide units and varios aminoacidos as organisational elements in the design of gelling systems. Versatile chiral low molecular weight gelators of bis(amino acid)-, bis(amino alcohol)-oxalamide and other structural types incorporating oxalamide units are prepared and studied (Feature Article: Chem. Commun. 46 (2010) 522) with particular attention paid to stereochemical effects, elucidation of the role of solvent and preparation of functional and composite gel systems. Studies of gelators incorporating selected fragments of Alzheimer disease related Aβ-protein, photoactive gelators, and chiral gelators possessing central and axial chirality are in progress.
