Division of Theoretical Physics

The scientific activities of the Division include theoretical investigations in high-energy particle physics, general and mathematical physics, astroparticle physics and cosmology, and condensed matter physics. The staff, consisting of 18 researchers with eight postdocs and students, is also involved in undergraduate and graduate studies at universities in Croatia, primarily at the University of Zagreb. Sixty years ago, when the Ruđer Bošković Institute was founded, the Theoretical Physics Department was its first department, later renamed the Division of Theoretical Physics.

Current research performed in the Division is mainly theoretical high-energy physics, mathematical physics and condensed matter and statistical physics.

The staff, currently consisting of 15 researchers with 10 postdocs and students, is also involved in undergraduate and graduate studies at universities in Croatia, primarily at the University of Zagreb.

Research interests in the Particle Physics and Cosmology Group are devoted to the understanding of fundamental constituents of the matter and their interactions and they include several directions in the theoretical high-energy physics research.
