DAQ/FPGA Workshop as Part of the FP7 "Particle Detectors" Project

Nov 3rd 2011

A DAQ/FPGA workshop is being organized at the RBI on November 4 and 5 as part of the Particle Detectors FP7 project.

The purpose of this workshop is to present a practical introduction to modern DAQ systems and related hardware, with an overview. A number of foreign invited lecturers will be sharing their specialized know-how. The focus is on, among other, developments related to the future FAIR facility inDarmstadt,Germany, for which novel DAQ systems are being developed. The skills gained will be of use in all modern large nuclear, particle and astroparticle experiments.

A topic of special interest is the deployment of FPGA hardware for various applications. These versatile devices permit the use of the same boards for different applications, i.e., data processing, and are at the heart of the data acquisition of most modern detectors.
