Laboratory for Analytical Chemistry and Biogeochemistry of Organic Compounds

Systematic investigation of biogeochemical behaviour of organic compounds as a basis for a comprehensive environmental risk assessment.

Laboratory for Analytical Chemistry and Biogeochemistry of Organic Compounds

Our research and scientific work includes:

  • Development of highly specific methods for the determination of individual organic compounds as molecular markers of environmental processes
  • Laboratory and field investigations of the processes, which govern behaviour and fate of organic compounds in the environment
  • Identification of emerging contaminants using effects-directed analysis (EDA) approach
  • Estimating the impact of pollutants on microbial communities in the enviroment
  • Characterization of microbial communities as potential catalysts for biodegradation of organic pollutants - determining of catabolic and genetic potential for degradation
  • Study of novel technologies for the elimination of environmental toxicants
