Laboratorij za interakcije ionskih snopova

Grupa vodi institutski akceleratorski centar koji se sastoji od 2 Tandem akceleratora i pripadnih eksperimentalnih linija, što je najveće i najsloženije eksperimentalno postrojenje u RH. Istraživanja ove grupe uključuju temeljna i interdisciplinarna istraživanja interakcije ionskih snopova s materijom, te razvoj metoda karakterizacije i modifikacije svojstava materijala s posebnim težištem na istraživanja nanostruktura. Dio aktivnosti vezan je i na primjene metoda analize u biomedicini, okolišu kao i na istraživanja predmeta kulturne baštine. U sklopu FP7 projekta SPIRIT, eksperimentalne linije IRB akceleratora mogu od 2011. godine koristiti i znanstvenici iz EU i pridruženih zemalja putem ''trans national access'' (TNA) sheme.

Ion Beam Induced Changes in Crystaline Materials (MIOBICC)

The goal of the project is to find new knowledge based on experimental study of the time evolutions of radiation damages induced by energetic (MeV) ion beams. The focus is on studying:

  1. influence of electronic stopping and related nanostructuring of materials by ion track methodology using swift heavy ions;
  2. influence of nuclear stopping to radiation damage and amorphization in crystals, including materials of interest for future fusion reactors;
  3. charge transport properties in crystalline materials, focusing on novel semiconductor materials for radiation detection

Uređaji

Institut Ruđer Bošković ima dva elektrostatska tandem akceleratora (6.0 MV HVEC EN Tandem Van de Graaff i 1.0 MV HVE Tandetron), te 8 eksperimentalnih linija. Jedna od eksperimentalnih linija može u isti čas raditi sa ionskim snopovima iz oba akceleratora.

EN Tandem Van de Graaff akcelerator je opremljen s tri ionska izvora: Alphatross - radiofrekventni izvor s izmjenom naboja za He negativne ione, rasprašivački izvor SNICS-40 za različite vrste negativnih iona (H, Li, B, C, O, Si, Cl, Cu, Br, Au, itd.), te rasprašivački ionski izvor za rijetke snopove izgrađen na IRB-u.

Tandetron akcelerator je opremljen s dva ionska izvora: Duoplazmatron s direktnom ekstrakcijom negativnih iona (za vodik), te rasprašivački izvor SNICS za ostale ione (npr. Li, C, O, Si itd.)

Trenutno je u upotrebi devet komora za raspršenje.
