ROBONETCBC kick-off conference held in Šibenik

The kick-off conference of the ROBONETCBC project (Developing innovation network for uptake of solutions in robotics and sensors to improve monitoring and prevention of pollution of freshwater and sea ecosystems) was held on 8 November 2024 in Šibenik, organized by the Šibenik-Knin County, one of the project partners.
At the beginning of the conference, the representative of the host, Šibenik-Knin County, Dr. Sanja Slavica Matešić, greeted the attendees, and then Dr. Ante Šiljeg from the Center for Geospatial Technologies of the University of Zadar presented the project to the participants. The conference continued with lectures by employees of the Ruđer Bošković Institute, Dr. Sandi Orlić and Dr. Neven Cukrov, and Dr. Silvija Šiljeg from the University of Zadar. The conference ended with a round table on the topic "General overview of the state of geospatial data in Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Montenegro".
The ROBONETCBC project promotes innovative blue technologies for monitoring and preventing pollution in marine and freshwater ecosystems through collaboration between regional authorities, research institutes, universities, and businesses. It focuses on developing and adopting advanced robotics and sensors, enhancing current practices in Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Montenegro. The project implements three work packages: assessing the current monitoring systems, creating a joint action plan, and deploying cutting-edge monitoring stations in key hot spots. By fostering cooperation and innovation, the project aims to boost blue tech investments and ensure the sustainable use of these ecosystems.
The project started on 1 October 2024 and will be implemented until 31 March 2027. The project's total value is 1,216,654.72 euros and is financed under the Interreg IPA Croatia - Bosnia and Herzegovina - Montenegro 2021-2027 program. The project leader is the University of Zadar, and the project partners are the Šibenik-Knin County, the Ruđer Bošković Institute, the Chamber of Economy of the Federation of BiH, the University of Montenegro/Faculty of maritime studies Kotor, and the Innovation Fund of Montenegro.
