Short Biography:
Petra Buljević Zdjelarević is a communications and public relations expert with 16+ years of experience. As Head of PR and Communications at the Ruđer Bošković Institute, she has led 20+ campaigns and developed the digital strategy and communications for numerous EU and national projects.
Within the AI4Health.Cro EDIH, she designed and implemented a communications and dissemination strategy that, in its first year, exceeded all communications KPIs set for the three years.
She shares her expertise through workshops that combine practical tools, creative writing, and a strategic approach. As a lecturer and mentor in science communication, public speaking, and media engagement, she has participated in many conferences in Croatia and abroad, including the European Summer School on Science Communication (Frankfurt, 2023), Science Europe High-Level Conference (Brussels, 2024), Skills4EOSC Workshop: Science4Policy (Rome, 2025), THECUC (Pula, 2024), and others. She regularly collaborates with communications experts from European institutions such as the ERC and EMBO and is an active member of EU-LIFE’s science communication working group.
At the Institute, she helps strengthen early-career researchers’ communication skills through the Horizon Europe projects PATTERN — Piloting open and responsible Activities and Trainings Towards the Enhancement of Researchers’ Networks — and ReSkillSpan — Enabling impactful career opportunities for researchers across Europe.
For her contribution to science communication and public outreach, she received recognition from the Ruđer Bošković Institute in 2015 and 2016.

Piloting open and responsible Activities and Trainings Towards the Enhancement of Researchers Networks - PATTERN ( 2024 - )
Participating in crafting science communication training and modules, as well as piloting. PATTERN will strengthen transferable skills with the ultimate goal of empowering higher education institutions and research organisations to embrace a transformative process aimed at enhancing the excellence of science. Personalised training plans will be co-developed in 8 key areas: Open Access, FAIR Data Management, Citizen Science, Research Integrity, Gender, Non-Discrimination and Inclusion in Research, Dissemination and Exploitation of Results, Science Communication, Management and Leadership.
