  • 26th July 2021 - Zoran Kiralj, mag. exp. biol., started working on the project as PhD student, and started attending the doctoral study of Biology at the Faculty of Science, University of Zagreb
  • 20th September 2023 - defence of the theme of the doctoral thesis for Zoran Kiralj, titled: Metal bioaccumulation, biomarker responses and metal-binding biomolecules in the digestive gland of the mussel Unio crassus as indicators of freshwater ecosystem contamination
  • the defense was successful before the following committee: 
    1. assoc. prof. dr. Jasna Lajtner
    2. prof. dr. Renata Matoničkin Kepčija
    3. assist. prof. dr. Željka Fiket
  • suggested supervisors:
    1. dr. Dušica Ivanković, senior research associate
    2. dr. Saša Kazazić, senior research associate
  • 9th November 2023 - the Council of the Biology Department of the Faculty of Science of the University of Zagreb made a decision to accept the report of the Committee for accepting the topic of the doctoral thesis, and appoint the proposed mentors
  • 23rd January 2024 - the Senate of the University of Zagreb passed a decision for Zoran Kiralj on approving the topic and starting the procedure for obtaining a PhD in doctoral studies
