Through the UUPSS-Pag project, Solana Pag Ltd. and its partners—the University of Zagreb, Faculty of Science, Department of Biology, the Ruđer Bošković Institute, and GEKOM Ltd.—are developing innovative solutions for more efficient sea salt production.

Through industrial research and experimental development, Solana Pag and its partners are monitoring the controlled growth of microalgae with the aim of accelerating water evaporation and shortening the salt crystallization process. At the same time, a local microclimate forecasting system is being introduced to provide timely warnings of rainfall, the bora wind, and heat waves. By integrating natural processes with digital tools, the project will optimize salt crystallization, increase yields, and reduce production risks. The developed methodology is also applicable to other production sectors that are sensitive to climate change.
