149.000 Euro Grant Awarded to RBI Scientist, Davor Ristić, PhD

Feb 9th 2010

Davor Ristić, PhD, has been awarded a three year post-doctoral research grant for a project entitled Novel silicon based materials for optoelectronics in the amount of 149.000 Euros. The project which was ranked first in a strongly competitive field of applications was awarded by the Italian province of Trentino.

The project is the result of a long standing collaboration between Mile Ivanda, PhD, (DMP) and Maurizio Ferrari, PhD, from the Institute for Photonics and Nanotechnologies (IFN) in Trento. The project will support research into new silicon based optoelectronic materials prepared entirely at the RBI using LPCVD methods. Special emphasis will be placed on the development of new spherical optical micro-resonators based on silicon nano-particles.
