Mar 4th 2010

Chemistry a European Journal is one of the leading journals in the field of basic multidisciplinary chemistry (IF 5,454). RBI organic chemists from the Laboratory for Supramolecular and Nucleoside Chemistry, Division of Organic Chemistry and Biochemistry have published an article in this prestigious journal entitled Positionally isomeric Organic Gelators: Structure-Gelation Study, Racemic versus Enantiomeric Gelators, and Solvation Effects.

The research reported in this article by authors Vesna Čaplar, PhD, Leo Frkanec, PhD, Nataša Šijaković Vujčić and professor Mladen Žinić, PhD, describes a new method for the analysis of gelling properties and reports on the importance of positional isomerism, stereochemistry and terminal functional groups as well as solvation effects on the self-assembly of isomeric ampiphilic gels.
