The project investigated the neurobiological and psychophysiological aspects of anxiety disorders. Its primary objective was to gain a more comprehensive understanding of the neurobiological basis of these conditions and to identify more precise clinical and biological biomarkers that could facilitate diagnosis and improve treatment outcomes. The research focused on neurochemical, neuroendocrine (e.g., stress response and hormonal systems), and genetic factors contributing to the development of these disorders. A key aspect of the project was the analysis of symptomatology, disease course, and psychiatric comorbidities in individuals with generalized anxiety disorder (GAD) and panic disorder.
