Molecular probes for tumour visualization are a key diagnostic tool in medicine. The use of molecular probes that, in addition to tumour visualization, could additionally inhibit tumour growth would significantly contribute to treatment. Inhibition of the MDM2 protein could limit tumour growth, and some of the shortcomings of the current MDM2 inhibitors are the non-specificity of the protein-inhibitor interaction and the inability of the inhibitors to cross the cell membrane. Therefore, the goal of the project is to develop a molecular probe for tumour growth inhibition and simultaneous tumour imaging.
