CLIMAGRIT is a project focused on strengthening the resilience of agriculture to climate change, with a particular emphasis on drought as a key risk in Varaždin County. The project is developing an innovative and sustainable solution based on the application of biostimulants derived from indigenous soil microorganisms, thereby contributing to the adaptation of plants to new climate conditions and reducing the negative impacts of climate change. Special emphasis is placed on preserving traditional and indigenous plant crops with EU geographical indication labels (Varaždin cabbage, Ludbreg horseradish, and pumpkin), which represent an important part of local and national heritage. CLIMAGRIT combines advanced climatological forecasting, including sensor data, ERA5 reanalysis data, and Copernicus satellite imagery, with soil microbiome analysis, which is innovatively incorporated into climate risk assessment.
