PROPERTIES AND BEHAVIOUR OF ATMOSPHERIC MICROCONSTITUENTS
Within the Properties and Behaviour of Atmospheric Microconstituents Project research ongoing
ozone monitoring (since 1988) at station Puntijarka was continued and similar monitoring at
stations Srđ and Mali Lošinj were terminated. The measurements at Srđ and Mali Lošinj are
considered finished and the results of data analyses were published. The data are stored at RBI
and when needed used in other investigations or cooperations in European atmospheric projects
within the ACCENT - Network of Excellence as its member since 2005 (after the finish of
EUROTRAC). Various methods for analysis of atmospheric microconstituents, computer and
statistic methods for data handling, measurement interpretations in connection to meteorological
parameters and data, altitude and long-range transport were examined and tested. Frequency
analysis by Fourier transformation (FT) of long term ozone data from 12 European
EUROTRAC/TOR stations showed therein otherwise difficult to recognize periodicities. In 2005
volatile hydrocarbons in air were measured at Mali Lošinj and Kopački Rit within a bilateral project
with Faculty for chemistry and chemical technology, University of Ljubljana. With them, an Italian
and a Hungarian partner also a project proposal entitled «Ozone induced forest injury and forest
preservation in Hungary, Croatia and Slovenia» for financing within the Community Initiative
INTERREG IIIA, Neighbourhood Programme Slovenia-Hungary-Croatia 2004-2006 project was
submitted. Some measurement results particularly their effect on mortality increase in Croatia and
forest damage on mountain Medvednica were analyzed and published. Scientific achievements
were published in peer reviewed scientific journals covered by Current Contents, some also in
Proceedings of scientific meetings
