Bioprospecting is research based on the underexplored biodiversity of the marine environment and is focused on the sustainable use of biological resources. The adaptation of marine organisms to different living conditions, particularly extreme ones, promotes their diversity and creates significant genetic potential for innovation. The aim of the project is to conduct a sustainable and systematic investigation of primary and secondary metabolites in selected micro- and macroorganisms of the Adriatic Sea with biotechnological potential for the innovative development of commercially valuable natural products. The target groups include various industries, including the food, pharmaceutical, cosmetic and chemical industries, as well as environmental protection agencies and the academia.
