Monitoring, early warning, preparedness, and response measures in the emergence of virus outbreaks are key elements to ensure a high level of healthcare. The limitation of all currently available virus detection methods is that they detect only predefined viruses. Within this project, we will examine the technical feasibility of the ViroSENS sensor for detection of any potentially pathogenic virus. To produce a new effective miniaturized biosensor, we will use our original and innovative VirusHunter technology in combination with 2D materials. The ViroSENS sensor will enable rapid detection of any known or unknown pathogenic virus, a challenge that has not yet been solved.
