Let's talk genomics – a 1+MG portal for the public
The European "1+ Million Genomes" (1+MG) initiative offers "Let's talk genomics", a portal for citizens and for anyone leading public conversations about genomics.
Genomics is increasingly part of healthcare, from newborn screening to personalised treatment. This makes an open, informed conversation about its possibilities and limits essential. "Let's talk genomics", part of the 1+MG Framework, presents the ethical and societal questions of genomics in an accessible way:
- Genomics through life: topics from family planning and prenatal testing through newborn screening and diagnostics to personalised treatment.
- Big questions in genomics: my DNA vs our DNA, heritage, vulnerability, privacy, interpreting results and artificial intelligence.
- A glossary and tools for conversations with citizens – for schools, patient organisations and anyone interested.
The Laboratory for Advanced Genomics takes part in the 1+MG initiative through the GDI, Genome of Europe, EASIGEN-DS and STORE-1PLUSMG projects. The lab recommends the portal to everyone who wants to understand genomics and its role in healthcare.
