Videos about the 1+MG initiative
Three videos about the 1+MG initiative have been published, specifically aimed at citizens and healthcare professionals.
The videos include information about the 1+MG initiative and its benefits, and summarize key information that will bring citizens and healthcare professionals closer to the 1+MG concept, whose main goal is to harness the potential of genomics to revolutionize healthcare. The desired progress will be achieved through personalized medicines, therapies, and interventions that enable better diagnostics and prevention.
The first video provides general information about the 1+MG initiative. The next two videos are intended for a more specific audience - healthcare professionals and citizens.

A video for healthcare professionals explains the key role of the 1+MG initiative in the development of personalized healthcare in Europe and the importance of collaboration. Dr. Tuula Helander, President of the 1+MG Group, says: “Without knowledge of genome data, it is impossible to achieve the goal of personalized medicine. That is why we need a huge amount of data and close collaboration with other countries.”
In the citizen engagement video, respondents refer to examples from their home countries to explain the importance of working together to create a common solution across Europe. Serena Scollen, GDI project coordinator, says: “Genomics has the potential to revolutionise healthcare in the long term. To do this, we need to get the scale of data that will impact better research and healthcare, and by working together, countries can analyse the data on a much larger scale.” Bengt Persson, co-lead of the GDI infrastructure implementation, adds: “If you have a rare disease that only has a few cases across Europe, then you need to have enough patients to detect patterns.”
