High performance liquid chromatography – mass spectrometry (hplc-ms/ms)

Category
  • Farmaceutska industrija

High pressure liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry allows rapid separation of components of the mixture and their identification based on the mass-to-charge ratio (m/z).

Market opportunity

This analytical method is suitable for numerous applications. It can be used for identification and quantification of metabolites in biological fluids during drug development or pharmacokinetic studies. In investigation and monitoring of the quality of natural and waste waters it can be used for identification and quantification of herbicides in water or biological fluids. It is also possible to monitor metabolism of xenobiotics, some of which are hazardous toxicants and pollutants. The method can be also used in food industry for analyses of food products (oil, wine, honey, etc.).

Service description

High pressure liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry allows rapid and precise separation of components of the mixture and their identification based on the mass-to-charge ratio (m/z).

The main advantage over other existing systems is possibility to follow analysis by using two detectors: DAD (diode array detector, up to 8 wavelengths) and mass spectrometer (up to 1650 Da).

By using this analytical method it is possible to perform qualitative analysis: recording of mass spectra of samples, determination of the molecular mass of samples, analysis of the fragmentation of particular molecular ion, determination of the precursor ion.

It is also possible to perform quantitative analysis: by using analyte standards and internal standards MRM technique allows plotting of calibration curves and determination of analyte concentrations in studied samples.
