Festival of Science Begins in the City of the Alka Tournament

From April 10 to 15, the city of the Alka Tournament will become a city of science, which will bring together more than 50 top experts from Croatia, Slovenia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Serbia. The main theme of this year's festival in Sinj is light and the hunt for “God’s particle.” Moreover, visitors will have the opportunity to learn about the future of nanotechnology, whether little green men exist, will we survive 2012, CERN, what black holes are, how the universe was created and many other interesting topics.

In addition to Dr. Ramljak, the festival organizers, including Ivica Glavan, Mayor of Sinj, and Mate Jagnjić, a student of physics, have decided to turn Sinj into literally a city of science. The extensive festival program offers visitors workshops in robotics and programming, chemistry, physics, observation of the night sky and numerous other subjects.

Scientists from the region, united by the common goal of “approaching the beauty of science” will present various forums on education, economics and energy in order to convey the importance of science and education for the society. Immediately after the opening ceremonies, a round table discussion will be held on the future of the Croatian educational system.
