Jun 24th 2009

The Croatian-Japanese Workshop on Advanced Materials Science will be held from 29 - 30 June at the Institute of Physics in Zagreb. This is the first joint workshop in the programme of cooperation between Croatia and Japan, jointly organized by the Ruđer Bošković Institute and the Institute of Physics, with the support of the Ministry of Science, Education and Sport (MSES), Japan Science and Technology Agency (JST) and the Japanese embassy in Zagreb.

The goal of a two-day workshop in Zagreb is to gather prominent Croatian and Japanese scientists and provide them with the opportunity to present on the major interests and research directions that could be pursued in future collaborative projects in Materials Science. The participants will be introduced with the guidelines on how to apply a project for the new financing programme. The first public tender invitation will be announced in September.

The Workshop was organized based on the Memorandum of Understanding between the Croatian Ministry of Science, Education and Sports and Japan Science and Technology Agency on the Programme of Scientific Cooperation. One of the goals of the programme is to foster and support research projects in the field of Advanced Materials Science. The programme will operate on a five-year funding cycle. Croatia is one of the eighteen countries included in the Japanese Strategic International Cooperative Program.
