New Success of the RBI Theoretical Chemists

The paper by RBI scientists professor Zvonimir Maksić, PhD, and Robert Vianello, PhD, on computer design and synthesis of a new superbaze with interesting properties, was published in one of the most cited journals in chemistry - Journal of the American Chemical Society.

This study is a result of a successful Croatian-English-Estonian international cooperation. The RBI scientists predicted a high basicity of a new compound and its characteristic properties, and the compound was synthesized in Brighton (UK), and experimentally tested in laboratories in Bath (UK), Durham (UK) and Tartu (Estonia). This study is a perfect example of the modern scientific research based on international networking and synergy of computer and experimental chemistry. In this way, the scientists are able to achieve their results more directly and cost-effectively.
