Promocija istraživačkih potencijala IRB-a u području istraživanja tumora

At the invitation of Dr. Susanne Radtke, European Programme Manager at the US-NCI Liaison Office of the National Cancer Institute in Bethesda (NCI), the RBI Director Danica Ramljak, DVM, PhD, has started a two-day working visit to Brussels. During her visit she will meet with the leaders of the European Organization for Research and Treatment of Cancer (EORTC), the International Life Sciences Institute (ILSI) and the European Cancer Organization (ECCO). The purpose of this visit is to present RBI potential in cancer research and promote its successful integration into the network of leading European research institutions connecting basic with clinical research.

EORTC is a multinational and multidisciplinary organization which comprises a network of over 300 hospitals or cancer centres in over 30 countries. The main goals of EORTC are to develop, conduct, coordinate, and stimulate translational and clinical research in Europe to improve the management of cancer and related problems by increasing survival but also patient quality of life. Extensive and comprehensive research in this wide field is often beyond the means of individual European hospitals and can be best accomplished through the multidisciplinary multinational efforts of basic scientists and clinicians. During her visit, RBI Director will meet with the professor Francois Meunier, EORTC Director General and Dr. Stephane Lejeune, EU Programme Officer at EORTC.

On the second day of her visit to Brussels, Director Ramljak will meet with Mr. Michel Ballieu, CEO of ECCO, and Dr. Nico van Belzen, Executive Director of ILSI Europe. ILSI is a non-profit, worldwide organization, founded in Washington (USA) in 1978 with the mission to improve public health and well-being by engaging academic, government and industry scientists in a neutral forum to advance scientific understanding in the areas related to nutrition, food safety, risk assessment, and the environment.

The RBI Director will also visit the headquarters of the Croatian Mission to NATO, where she will meet with H.E. Mr. Igor Pokaz, Ambassador of Croatia to NATO and Head of Croatian Mission to NATO, as well as Major Igor Karnjuš, Senior Military Advisor, in order to discuss the opportunities and potentials of RBI for NATO projects.
