The project investigates the potential application of the strontium isotope ratio ⁸⁷Sr/⁸⁶Sr as an indicator of the geographical origin of Croatian wines. It is based on the fact that the geological substrate and soil have characteristic strontium isotopic compositions that are transferred to grapes and wine. By analyzing wine samples from different Croatian wine-growing regions and subregions, the relationship between their isotopic ratios and the potential for discriminating wines according to their geographical origin will be investigated.
