Testing of bacterial biofilm formation

The test is typically performed in polystyrene microtiter plates, and the biofilm is determined by staining with crystal violet dye. The test can be adapted for various other substrates for the development of new, functional materials with antibacterial properties and for testing of the inhibition or stimulation of bacterial growth by various substances in bioprospecting and other biotechnological applications.
