Completed workshop “Perspectives of Digital Humanities in European Open Science Cloud”

Within the preliminary talk, the main goals of the European open science cloud initiative were presented, as well as its challenges, future plans and activities to achieve the idea of open science on the European level. Special attention was given to the specific needs and challenges of Digital Humanities in the framework of new, technology-driven research practices on the European, but most importantly, on the national level.

The goal of the hands-on session of the workshop was to introduce the participants with specific services and tools developed and tailored for the needs of digital humanities, in the scope of the two above mentioned European projects. Through a set of short exercises, the participants have learned about the DARIAH science gateway and how to access the European e-Infrastructure. In particular, the participants had an opportunity to test and learn how to use some of the services available on the gateway such as Semantic Search Engine (SSE), Simple Cloud Access and the repository of the Bavarian dialects based on the cloud technologies.

The workshop gathered 14 participants from different national institutions, the members of the DARIAH-HR community.
