Access granted to the EuroHPC JU computing resources on the supercomputer HPC Vega
10 January 2022 - Members of the project "Scalable High Performance Algorithms for Future Heterogeneous Distributed Computing Systems", funded by the Croatian NSF and led by Davor Davidović, PhD, have been granted access to the EuroHPC supercomputer HPC Vega, located at the Institute of Information Sciences - IZUM in Maribor, Slovenia. Access to the supercomputer was granted through the EuroHPC JU Benchmark and Development Calls.
Big progress on AMOTS project
As part of the FF4EuroHPC project on the Modax machine, modifications were made and mechanical elements were added, as well as design interventions on exterior panels and doors, which are crucial in achieving project results and testing the impact of the heated chamber on the manufactured part.
Open access to EuroHPC supercomputers
The first call for regular access to EuroHPC resources has been opened - the deadline for submitting proposals is 3 December 2021, 10:00 Central European Time. You can find more about regular access to EuroHPC resources on the "EuroHPC resources" subpage.

One year of work on the establishment of the Croatian Competence Center for High Performance Computing
The project “National Competence Centres in the Framework of EuroHPC” – EuroCC, which establishes the Croatian Center for Competence for High Performance Computing, marked the first year of work on establishing networks of national competence centers for high performance computing in 33 member states of the European High Performance Computing Joint Undertaking (EuroHPC JU).
EuroCC newsletter (September)
The Flemish Supercomputer Center (VSC) is, on 7th October, organizing a first VSC Lunch Session. The topic will be AI meets HPC. Two use cases are presented: Kurt De Grave of Flanders Make on AI and the manufacturing industry, Michael Sluydts of ePotentia on AI and materials research. Kenneth Hoste of VSC/UGent will then talk about artificial intelligence and GPUs.
„Nways to GPU Programming“ Bootcamp – open application
During this two-day online Bootcamp, participants will learn about multiple GPU programming models and can choose the one that best fits their needs to run their scientific codes on GPUs. This Bootcamp will cover an introduction to GPU programming using OpenACC, OpenMP, stdpar and CUDA C, and provides hands-on opportunities to learn how to analyse GPU-enabled applications using NVIDIA® Nsight™ Systems.
The first EuroHPC supercomputer Vega open for access
New resources for high-performance computing are available to the Croatian academic community: a call has been opened for access to the first EuroHPC supercomputer Vega.
Multi-head Additive Manufacturing with Optimal HPC Thermal Stabilization (AMOTS)
As part of FF4euroHPC, a European initiative to make it easier for small and medium-sized enterprises to access high-performance computers (HPCs) and related technologies, funding has been approved for the "Multi-head Additive Manufacturing with Optimal HPC Thermal Stabilization (AMOTS)" experiment. The holder of the AMOTS experiment is Mikrotvornica, a domestic company specializing in prototyping and small production batches using 3D printers, which will implement the experiment in cooperation with the Ruđer Bošković Institute and the Center for Informatics and Computing and the Rijeka company Yotta Advanced Computing, from which you will gain experience and professional support in the application of HPC technology for successful project execution.
