Kako se životinjske skupine nose s problemom povećane osjetljivosti na uzročnike bolesti? Život u grupama iznimno je koristan, ali zbog učestalijih kontakata između jedinki, potiče i širenje uzročnika bolesti. Zadružni kukci, kao što su mravi, pčele i termiti, pokazuju izvanrednu bihevioralnu i fiziološku obranu od epidemija u svojim zajednicama, koju pojedinci provode na razini kolonije (tzv. društveni imunitet). Međutim, koji evolucijski procesi upravljaju pojavom takvih i sličnih uzoraka ponašanja protiv uzročnika bolesti na razini skupine? U svojim istraživanjima koristim kukce brašnare koje je moguće eksperimentalno manipulirati u vidu srodsta, veličine skupine i njezine strukture.
