Scientific goals of the project:
- To establish passive detectors dosimetry in ion beams using radiophotoluminescent (RPL) and thermoluminescent (TL) detectors
- To use passive dosimetry techniques for different measurements in ion beam therapy
Project is divided into two work packages, one per project year:
- WP1 (Project year 1) – Characterisation of RPL and TL detectors for ion dosimetry
- WP2 (Project year 2) – Use of RPL and TL dosimetry systems for measurements in clinically relevant scenarious in ion therapy
Focus will be on the organ dose measurements in different antropomorphic phantoms and posibble LET evaluation
Each WP consists of:
- experimental part (preparation of detectors and experimental set-up, irradiations at the Heidelberg Ion Therapy center (HIT), read-out of detectors and data analysis)
- calculations (MC simulations for the used experimental set-up which will be used for data analysis and discussion)
